it was so great to ring in the new year among some of my favorite friends; laughing, eating way too much, staying out later than i have in some time and just enjoying one another's company.
2007 was a rough year for me. sure, it had some great times but it's refreshing to see it go and just look forward. the past few days i've been thinking about resolutions for myself. as i began the usual list that seems to be the same, year after year, i realized that accomplishing some of those things would better my life in some ways, but i was still missing something. why did i fail to meet those same goals of last year? as i thought about this i realized that, none of my resolutions from the year prior were really accomplished and were instead replaced with other more time consuming, stressful and unimportant things. i dug deep and thought of what i really wanted out of myself and the answer was all too clear... i wanted my life to be more simple. don't misunderstand me, i am well aware that life with a two year old and a newborn can be far from simple, but that doesn't mean that it can't be simplified. i want to obligate myself less, focus more on my family, take on less responsibilities, enjoy more quality time with my husband, play more, read more... fully enjoy the life i have with my wonderful little family. simplify, so that my time is spent where it really matters with those who really matter. that is what will make 2008, "great", for me and those are goals that i will actually enjoy accomplishing, goals which are actually worth accomplishing. i'm truly looking forward to slowing down this year and just keeping it simple. here's to o-eight!
