8.24.02

on sunday, my husband and i had our sixth anniversary.

six years.

when i reflect on my thoughts and feelings as a young couple preparing to enter marriage, i remember feeling like i knew a lot, not everything, but a lot. what i did know was that no matter what, we wanted to be together and we would do whatever was necessary to make it happen. that was all i needed to know at that point. the rest had to be left to the unknown so i could discover and figure things out by myself. i needed to learn that happiness didn't mean perfection, that communication was crucial, that challenges led to growth, that our commitment is what would help us persevere.... each day i realize how perfect bryce and i are for each other, but for different reasons than i had thought six years ago. i know i was supposed to marry him, not because it would be an easy marriage, but because it wouldn't be, and together we could work through whatever came our way.

happy anniversary, babe! xoxo

do you dream of an easier day,
when the innocence played such a trick on us all
and we thought we'd never end,
do you think we were better then?

good nightingale,
sleep tight and don't let your dreams carry you away from me.
rest well because hell finds a way into our brightest dreams,
but don't be afraid, 'cause i'll touch your face
and i'll kiss you awake.

congrats on 6 years.

may the next six years bring even more learning, more communication and more perfectly imperfect moments.

happy anniversary.

more times than not, the initial reasons why we marry someone are never the same reasons why we stay married or love them now. which is always good thing. it just means that our love is ever evolving.

and if we tried holding on to those things we loved in the first place, we'd not only be sorely disappointed, but we'd miss out on feelings that go beyond butterflies in the stomach and mere infatuations. we'd miss everything that's real about that person.

it's sad that a lot people would rather have the fantasy over the reality.

happy anniversary!

those lessons you've learned are amazing and i'm glad that you recognize them.

i can second and concur with kayleen's comment. there is so much truth in it. fantasy is never as good as real life.

hope the day was a good one.
