i'll be honest...
when i was first asked if i'd like to go to girls' camp {a church run camp specifically for girls}, i was so excited, i absolutely love working with the youth. but when i actually got called and the reality of me being away from my family set in, i became nervous and even started to dread it. this would be the longest i ever would have to be away from my kids and husband at one time and the thought of leaving them for this week depressed me. however, i knew, despite these feelings, that i was called for a reason and that i needed to be these girls' leader. so i put aside my worries, and made the decision to put my whole heart into it. i was called to this position at the beginning of this year and we have spent the past 6 months working so hard to prepare. i have spent countless hours working on our banner, filming videos, attending meetings, working on our skits, etc... so much sleep was lost, thinking of all of my to-do's and coming up with ideas for different things we needed. my whole life seemed to be consumed by and revolved around girls camp. by the time that it was only weeks away, i was already wishing it was over with so i could be relieved of all of the stress of it.

looking back, i can't believe that i could even think like this... i had one of the most amazing times there. i am so fortunate and so lucky to have been called to serve in this capacity amongst some of the most amazing women and girls and even priesthood holders i've ever met.
here's how it all went down...

once again I find myself looking up to you.
I lived in fear of getting called to go to girl's camp as a leader... but maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
oh i miss girls camp. i was totally one of those 2nd year ycl's. i was so hard core religious!
looks like you had fun. glad you enjoyed it.
i could never get into camp... i only went three of the years and i HATE, HATE, HATED it. it could be due to the fact that my friends were druggies and i was the only one in my ward in my year. haha.
then a few years back i got called to be camp director and just laughed. i did end up enjoying myself though, i think it's so much better going as a leader.
It looks like you had so much fun! Glad it all worked out well and I am sure your girls just loved having you as a leader!
Wow good for you. It looks like it was a lot of work and tons of fun. Is it bad that when I was a leader in YW I was secretly really excited that I had a newborn that got me out of having to go to camp??
Diana,
My sister was one of your girls. Small world. Maylinn...
oh man...i still miss it. wasn't it AMAZING?!
