10 years?? really?

when i think of high school, i think...
skinny body, bad hair.

haha.
no, but seriously.

see exhibit a:

this past weekend we attended our high school reunion. i felt like a teenager pretending to attend her 10 year reunion, 'cause seriously it hasn't been 10 years... has it? i remember 10 years ago imagining where i would be when reunion time came around, and now suddenly it was here. the night was filled with laughter, embarrassment, and lots of memories as well. although the turn out was better than i expected, considering we graduated with 900+ people, only about 10% showed up. i attribute this to the price of the reunion ticket. of course, it would've been fun to catch up with more people, but still it was really good to see everyone there. bryce and i both had a great time.

my senior year, i was voted class clown... my one and only accomplishment during my high school years. i still have the award... somewhere. maybe i should scrapbook it and frame it. no? i'm pretty sure most obnoxious goes hand in hand with that award, but i'm willing to take the fall, if it means getting a good chuckle in here and there. i have no shame. at least once a week, the words "you think you're so funny" come from my husband's mouth... possibly daily.

okay, so maybe i had a few other accomplishments... probably a medal here and there from a track or cross country meet. definitely, not anything scholastic... i talked way too much in class. (i was reminded by fellow classmates of that fact multiple times throughout the reunion.) i got in a lot of trouble for that, but hey, i passed my classes and made some good friends along the way.

and while living in high school years, is just sad and embarrassing, i am fond of the time i spent at mountain view and the good (not to mention, hilarious) memories made during those years. although, i could've done without the lame drama, cliques, and gossip that unfortunately come along with high school, i am thankful for the good great friends i made there and the wonderful examples many of them were to me. i'm grateful for the continued friendship i have with many of them still and even new friendships that formed afterwards from those friends. two of my very closest and dearest friends are the wives of old high school friends. and last but never least, my dear husband who i was able to meet there. this alone makes my high school years dear to me, i hate to think of never meeting him and having him in my life. the lessons i learned and am learning from those years cannot be replaced by any other experience, for these experiences are what will help me relate to my own children as they enter school, and help me teach them from my own dumb mistakes. as they struggle to discover the people who they are, through some of their toughest years i will be able to be there for them to offer empathy, understanding and even some (most likely unwanted) advice.

here are the pics from our reunion.
there's a lot that i'm posting, simply for those who did not attend and would like to see them. i'm glad i had a chance to catch up with you all and for those who skipped out, i would've loved to have caught up with you too.
see you all in '19.
