skills day, schmills day

lately, my time has been very consumed by my calling in my ward. i have been put entirely in charge of our upcoming skills day. "skills day", also known as, "super saturday", is basically a day where the sisters of our ward can sign-up to learn and do different projects/crafts.

our relief society president wanted me to come up with 15-20 projects! initially, i was taken aback by the amount that she wanted me to come up with, but she said that i could enlist a couple girls to help me. two names came immediately to my head and when i approached them, both were so kind and willing to help me. we got to work and brainstormed lots of projects. we wanted to appeal to the many different sisters in the ward and ended up with over 25 projects! we were able to weed some of them out and were finally left with just over 20 projects. between myself and my helpers, lindsay and nicole, we had to create each of the project displays, tabulate costs, and print out sign-ups for each project! it has been so much work and a bit stressful.

on sunday, we put our displays out for the first time. it was so nice to see our hardwork finally come to fruition. thank you to everyone who helped contribute to this activity! we get a small break for the next few weeks as our displays and sign-ups are out, and then it's back to the busy scramble around town purchasing all the supplies! i took pictures of all the projects that we came up with. i forgot to snap a picture of our wire family tree, so i used the picture that we modeled our project after.

i think ours came out cuter 'cause we put it in a black flower pot, with the word, forever, in a metal bracket. anyways, here's the pictures of the rest of the projects, click on 'em if you want a closer look!

scripture and tote bags, photo class and session, mini topiaries, fall floral arrangement and mini-scrapbooks.

decorated frame, holiness to the lord temple frame, and ribbon watches.

burpcloths, onesies with ties, and toy swords.

hooded towels, framed magnet boards, and decorated glass jars.

stocking board, kiss-mas countdown, living christ frame, and kitchen towels.

whew... i'm exhausted! i'm just glad that this part of my assignment is finally over!

CUTE ideas! I know how stressful that is! Glad that part is over for you. We need to go to dinner and talk, since it has been so long or we can talk on the phone (but knowing how our conversations go we could be on there for like 24 hrs.)! Anyway, lets set up a date, you and me!

Oh my gosh, did we really have that many projects? The pictures seemed to go on...and on. Diana, you are so cute, and so creative, and so fun to be around. It's been such an honor to be able to help you (even if in a very small way), on the planning and execution of this event. You are such a good friend and example to me. Thank you for thinking of me!
