twenty-eight

i add things up in my head a lot. addresses and phone numbers, ages and dates. in my mind my head races to add, subtract, multiply and divide these numbers. the perfect, orderly joy that i get from perfect divisors or sums that equal a number within itself, is enough to make me feel a little crazy in the head.

in mathematics, 28 is considered a perfect number. meaning, the sum of all of it's proper divisors (excluding the actual number) is the number itself:

28 can be evenly divided by the following numbers and their sum is 28.

1+2+4+7+14= 28

it is one in four numbers considered perfect.

i turned 28 yesterday. and for some reason the above knowledge makes me happy.

my husband bryce took me out on saturday to celebrate. we went out to eat where we enjoyed a delicious dinner which was blared out by some ridiculously loud music coming from the speakers overhead. we had to yell at each other to converse. dinner was followed by a movie. a great movie. we both loved it. bryce and i always say that a great indicator that a movie is fantastic, is when we still talk about it days later.

my actual birthday was yesterday, where i was sung to by ava at least 20 times. and every time she did, i loved it. i especially loved when she started adding a "boom" at the end.

happy birthday dear mommy, happy birthday to you! boom.

i enjoyed a facebook wall filled with well wishes,

some silly voicemails,

a couple emails,

a regular day, with an added lunch and pedicure,

dinner with my parents,

and even a few gifts as well.

the evening then concluded with a horrible movie rental.

as we laid in bed, bryce asked me if i had a good birthday.

thinking how grateful i was to him, for making me feel extra special that day, i answered,

"yes bryce, i did."
