anniversary weekend

we're always up for our own little get-away. and since our anniversary was just around the corner, we figured we'd drop the kids off at grandma and grandpa's and take off for the weekend. just the two of us. even if we weren't going far, we felt as though we were.

after a delicious dinner, we headed over to the biltmore where our reservations awaited us. it was a dark rainy night as bryce pulled into the driveway of the hotel. we hopped out of the car and ran into the lobby to check ourselves in. free of any extra charge, we were upgraded to one of their best suites with a large entryway, a separate living room and bedroom, two balconies and a huge bathroom... we both looked at each other like excited little kids. this would be our home away from home for the next couple days, and we liked that.

for the next two days, we ate, we slept, we swam, we worked out, we napped, we talked, we tv'd, we relaxed, we laughed, we shopped, we dated.

"i'm having a great time." bryce said one day as we were taking a dip in the pool.

and it was, indeed, a great time.

we both agreed it was a fantastic kick-start to yet another year together.
