gobble, gobble

last week, ava, came home from preschool with an assignment for us to complete as a family. it was a turkey on a piece of cardstock and we were instructed to come up with a disguise for the turkey so that it wouldn't be eaten on thanksgiving. some examples that her teacher included, were a ballerina, a doctor, an astronaut and so on. ava and i brainstormed the next few days on what we could dress the turkey up as. she had a little bit of trouble grasping the idea exactly, but did come up with a few suggestions, all of which would be either difficult to pull off, or not easily recognizable. we finally sat down with bryce and together came up with some ideas. ava suggested that we dress him up as santa, a bat or a snowman. i came up with disguising the turkey as ava herself. but bryce, my dear bryce, came up with the best idea of all... a turkey sandwich. sure it defeated the purpose of disguising it to prevent it from being eaten, but oh it was clever. we asked ava to choose between all of our ideas, and she was convinced to go with the sandwich idea, (that is after we showed her the real sliced bread we would attach to it, which she thought was hilarious). when the project was all finished, she looked at it, and with a big frown on her face started saying she wanted to dress the turkey up as "ava" instead. i wasn't about to undo the masterpiece so instead i glued her face onto the turkey and she was instantly pleased. may i present to you, her "ava turkey sandwich".
dare i say it was all that and a bag of chips?
(i'm sorry, i couldn't resist.)

Your posts are always filled with such humor. I'm always chuckling after reading them. Loved the laundry post. I was thinking... is she NUTS?? Then I realized you weren't and all was right with the women folk again.
