christmas ten

we all got sick, just days before christmas. another case of really bad timing. the day before christmas eve bryce and i were laying in bed shivering beneath the covers with 103 degree temps. our girls had gotten sick a few days prior and managed to get over it very quickly, but for some reason bryce and i were railroaded by it for days and could barely function like proper parents. by some christmas miracle, our adele managed to avoid the brunt of it and got away with some slight congestion and nothing else and somehow, christmas eve morning we were able to lock our kids in the playroom and get some last minute christmas wrapping and house cleaning done. whew!

here are some highlights of our christmas...

every year on christmas eve, my husband's family reads the nativity story while the kids re-enact the story. ava was mary again this year and emaline was a ninja with a bow staff/shepherd.

i laughed so hard when i uploaded this picture. that em's, i love her... even when she's picking her nose.

the girls were excited to get in bed so santa could come, but not before unwrapping their new christmas p.j.'s. my parents came over later that night so my dad could help bryce assemble the trampoline we got the girls for christmas. three hours later, they finished, while my mom and i talked, took care of baby, wrapped more presents, and got things ready for santa to come. bryce and i were exhausted crawling into bed that night. you can imagine my delight when i awoke at 7am the next morning and realized that adele had slept through the entire night. it was the best christmas present she could've given me. she has yet to do that again since then, but it was still a sweet gesture on her part. the girls loved unwrapping their gifts and seeing all that we and santa had brought them. my favorite was watching them unwrap our back door and see the trampoline in the backyard. they've been jumping on it ever since. the rest of christmas day was spent at my parents, unwrapping more presents and spending time with more family.

it was a great christmas and as much as i love this time of year, i am secretly ready for it to all be done with. maybe it was the sickness mixed with stress, or the christmas treat overload that is doing a number on my thighs, but either way i'm ready for the new year. now if i could just finish getting the rest of the christmas decor packed away.

I love Emaline in those first two pictures. Awesome. Plus Brian and Bryce playing that fighting game (I don't know its name), that reminds me of Grandma's house, that was the only toy she had and I would play it with whoever wanted to. Good to see you all had a Merry Christmas!

when i was little i always got sick right before something i was really excited about, which forced me to not be able to go. i always felt my body was somehow sabotaging my happiness. i bet there has been some study done on why that happens.

but all in all, it looks like "merry" was pulled off flawlessly.

love you. see you next week!
