five!

my ava babe turned five on saturday! can you believe it?

we threw a party for her. it was huge.... but not intentionally.

she personally selected all of her invitees and to our surprise almost every single person showed up, nearly 30 kids! thankfully we had grandparents and friends around to help out. we thought we'd have a lot more no shows, so it was quite a madhouse, but ava was thrilled. she just loves being with her friends, and spending her big day surrounded by them was just how she wanted to celebrate. she had a great time. thank you to all who came, it really meant so much to her (and us).

there was pizza, snacks, cupcakes and a special cinderella cake requested by the birthday girl, made by yours truly. the kids decorated crowns with stickers and jewels, played "pin the kiss on the frog" & "slay the dragon", and of course a pinata.

"today was a great day!" she exclaimed later that night.

and it was.
