emaline's 1st birthday

i'm not a big breakfast person... my kids get gypped on the most important meal of the day.  it usually consists of anything that i don't have to cook, like yogurt, fruit cups, cereal, toast, smoothies or frozen waffles.  bryce is the breakfast guy, i always look forward to his breakfasts on saturday mornings, as do the girls, since they've learned that good breakfasts only come from dads.  but every once in a while, when i wake up with energy, i'll make the girls pancakes and on their birthdays, they get heart-shaped ones, with a candle and a song...  what a treat!

emaline would get the biggest smile on her face every time we sang happy birthday to her that day.  i kept singing it to her, just so i could see that cute, shy little smile.

her birthday landed on a thursday, the same day as our little play group that we join up with meets, and it just so happened to be a day where swimming, pizza and otter pops were involved... what a perfect birthday activity to attend. 

when bryce got home, we headed out for dinner at every one year old's favorite place to eat... outback.

random, i know, but we were craving it.  besides, emaline didn't care where she was, she just wanted to be fed.

they brought out a fudged drizzled oreo sundae for her birthday, which everyone except her enjoyed. she was so full from her meal, she refused to eat any of her birthday treat. we couldn't let it go to waste, so we finished it off for her. it was delicious em's... sorry.

we came home nice and stuffed and ended the night with a little present opening.  well, emaline just crawled all over her presents while ava "helped" her open her gifts.

it was a quiet, relaxed and enjoyable end to her little birthday... so fitting for the little birthday girl.
