moving day

well moving day has come and gone but i still wanted to take a look back at the whole experience.

i have never felt so overwhelmed with a task than i did with packing up my house and if it wasn't for my dear friend nicole, i'm not sure if it ever would've happened. she dedicated every afternoon for over a week to come and help me. i'm not sure if it was the actual packing or the company that helped motivate me more, but either way she certainly saved me from giving up or losing my mind. not only that, but weeks later as i unpacked the many boxes that she helped with, not one casualty occurred, all the fragile items were carefully wrapped and everything was so easy to find. i was slightly embarrassed at the amount of boxes that had her handwriting on it, versus the few with my handwriting. i just don't know what i would've done with out her.

{about 1/16 of our house in boxes.}

of course nicole wasn't the only one doing the packing. bryce, the girls and even my visiting cousin got in on the action. i was surprised at how much fun ava and emaline had packing up their toys, books and other belongings. but the most fun was had during the unpacking session days later. it was like christmas all over ripping the tape off the boxes and seeing what was inside... i had no idea how exciting unpacking could be.

perhaps the reason why i felt so overwhelmed was because of the amount of stuff we had accumulated over the seven years that we had lived in our home. seriously, there's nothing like a move to force you to purge and cleanse your home and life. and believe you me, i am taking it completely seriously and throwing things out left and right and getting my organizing on.

seven years we lived there. the time went by so fast, i couldn't believe how long it had been. anyone who really knows me, knows that i don't handle change very well. the last few nights in our old house were very melancholy for me. i couldn't help but reflect on all of the memories we shared in that home. i avoided really thinking about them for fear of an embarrassing emotional breakdown. what can i say, i'm extremely sentimental and loved the time spent in our home. thankfully, my girls handle change much better than i. moving was nothing but exciting to the two of them. they were such great examples to me. they helped me hold it together and remember that we were always a family no matter where we lived. we were what made our house a home and this new place would soon feel like home, too. that, and that a random pirate patch always makes things better.
aarr, matey's!

I can't wait to see the pics of the new house all done up! And I can't wait until we move to get rid of all our junk. It feels so good to throw stuff away!

you're so sweet, diana, to say all of those nice things about me. the truth is, i had so much fun those couple of weeks spending time with you and being able to catch up. it didn't feel like work at all.

haha...i'm looking at the picture of all the boxes and laughing at the one labled "em's halloween costumes" :) that one had to have been my favorite...along with the 3 "games" boxes.

i miss hanging out already...we need to get together soon!

love ya, and i'm glad you didn't move too far away.

Isn't moving the awesomest? (why does my computer think awesomest is misspelled?) My favorite part though was when I unpacked my decor and if it didn't fit somewhere, I GOT RID OF IT! Instead of storing it "just in case" it would look good in the next place.

Try to beat our record of having a housewarming party a full year after you move in.
