another first day

as soon as she began stirring awake, her mind instantly turned to what today was, but more importantly what she was going to be able to wear. "mommy, can i go and get dressed?", she asked me immediately. she couldn't wait to throw on her new dress we had bought and laid out for her and her first day of preschool. i couldn't help but feel excited too, her excitement was contagious. when it was finally time to go, the girl was more than ready... she could not wait. i snapped a few pictures of her outside our door and off we went.

sure, it's only preschool, but i still couldn't help but have some reservations about sending her off to an unfamiliar setting with 20+ unfamiliar faces. you can imagine my comfort when i went to the "meet the teacher" and found out that her teacher actually attends the same church as our family does. not only would ava get to know her at school but she'd even be able to see her each sunday at church. once we got to her school she couldn't wait to get in the classroom... her readiness put all my reservations and concerns at ease. she was going to be just fine. the children lined up along the ramp and then headed up it and into the classroom. emaline and i waved bye and ava waved back then walked straight up the ramp without even a look back, almost walking on her tippy-toes hoping to get a sooner glance at the classroom. i had forgotten that this step might've been hard, her eagerness and excitement made it all a breeze, for me and for her.

as for emaline, she did well too. i thought for sure she'd cry when she realized she wasn't going with her sister, but she just waved good-bye and headed off with me hand in hand. this time alone together will be the best thing for her, and i think she knows it.

YAY what a big girl. =) Glad it went so smoothly for you. Enjoy your alone time with Emaline while you have it because the baby will be here before you know it.

also... Ava, you did a great job picking out your first day outfit. You are adorable.
Sad I don't get to see the girls at dance anymore. Only the random drop off and pick ups for me on Monday. I hope they are enjoying their their new dance class. I'm sure I'll see them at recital and be blown away by all that they have learned.

She looks so adorable in her dress. What a good big sister. It will be fun to have alone time with the little one. Enjoy it.
