thanks for asking...

i've never been tagged with a meme with these questions before so i thought it'd be fun to answer them. thank you sarah for giving me something to blog about, i've been in a slump since the whole lost camera episode.

1. Why did you start your blog?
i first started blogging in april of '06 on a different site. at first i blogged so i could remember events that had happened and to keep up on my fast-growing daughter, but the longer i blogged the more it became an outlet for me and on top of that it encourages me take more pictures even if i don't ever post them.

2. How did you come up with your blog name?
prose of a rose... my middle name is rose so it made sense and just fit well. and it rhymed.

3. Do your friends and family know about your blog? What do they think of it?
yes they do. some of my friends read it, some of them don't. as for my family, besides my husband, my mom is pretty much the only one who reads it. thank you, mom. i'm not sure what those who read think of it, but i hope i entertain them at least every once in a while.

4. How do you write posts?
i first hand-write a rough draft on paper. then i edit, type and print out a second draft and finally after a thorough edit by a third party, i type and publish the final draft. isn't that how everyone does it?

5. Have you ever had a troll or had to delete unkind comments?
no, not yet. i hope i never have to. now that i've said that i'll probably get a whole slew of them.

6. Do you check your stats? Do you care how many people read your blog? If you do care, how do you increase traffic?
i don't check my stats, but i do have a site meter. i'll admit, i do enjoy when people read my blog, it would take the fun out of blogging if no one read it. that being said, i also will admit that i can get bothered when people read my blog without dropping a note here and there to say "hi, i'm here and i like to read your blog", otherwise i feel like i'm giving and they're just taking, i mean everyone likes to read comments and hear feedback, right?

7. What kind of blogs/posts interest you?
i like to read a variety of blogs, i'm usually entertained by any well-written material. i mostly stick to blogs of people that i know, but i have been known to browse photo and craft blogs every once in a while. i enjoy reading blogs that are real. i mean, i don't expect every post to be completely open, but i'm bored reading posts that show how a person wants others to perceive who they are or how their lives are and not who they really are or how their lives really are. i believe that most of my friends whose blogs i read do a pretty good job of keeping it real.

8. What do you like and dislike about blogging?
i like to read and keep up with my friends and learn things about them that i probably wouldn't have a chance to learn otherwise. i find that i have a lot more in common with people than i would've realized by just hanging out with them.

i like that it gives me a chance to keep a type of journal to document my thoughts, milestones and just my life in general. i don't know if i would otherwise be very good at documenting these times.

i dislike how time-consuming blogging can be. thankfully, i have learned to limit myself but i hate that i actually have to make an effort.

i dislike how negative blogging can be. sometimes, i feel like people try to keep up with the "jones'" and compete with how much more perfect their lives are than their fellow bloggers. i truly hope that i've never given off that impression, i do love my husband, my daughter and my life and i'm not afraid to express that, but i hope that i have also balanced it with reality. my life isn't perfect and i'm okay with that. without any boasting i can see who is truly content and who is a wonderful mom and wife, there's no need for them to try and act perfect, they are who they are and i love that.
