emaline turned two months old a few days ago, i can't believe that just over two months ago i was pregnant with her and our family was just a family of three. it really seems like forever ago. she is a wonderful baby and just this week she has started sleeping completely through the night... a full 10-12 hours! but i can never have my cake and eat it too, which is why i've been struggling with trying to keep the poor girl in good health. it feels like one thing after another, even if it's nothing real serious, it seems like there's always something going on with her. this week's issue is eczema and a persistent diaper rash. other than that, she's in good health. she is very strong and is growing and gaining weight wonderfully. she's in the 90th percentile for height (23 1/2") and weight (13 lbs) and a few weeks ago, she began smiling and cooing at us.
ava has amazed me with how well she has taken on this big sister role. when emaline cries, ava's the first one to perk up and run to the baby. she asks to hold her and gives her hugs and kisses all the time... a little too much, sometimes. at bedtime she loves to have emaline join her in her bed for prayers and kisses. she'll grab emaline's arms, fold them and proceed with a prayer and follow with a hug and a kiss goodnight. i've even witnessed ava sharing her favorite pink blanket with emaline on a few occasions... and even ava helping herself to emaline's blankets as well.
ava loves to rock emaline in her carseat and swing, but sometimes ends up rocking her a little too hard. i'm trying to teach her to be a bit more gentle. she also loves to tickle emaline's toesies and "honk" her nose. when i put em down for tummy-time, ava will often join her and mimic her struggling, grunting noises... it cracks me up.
about a month ago, i was driving home with both of the girls when emaline started crying in her car seat. we were almost home so i knew i could tend to her in a few minutes. after about a minute, she stopped crying... i figured that she found some way to soothe herself. when we arrived home, i opened the back door to find that ava was holding emaline's hand and emaline was staring right at ava. ava looked at me and said "baby 'aline finish crying."

she is so sweet, i think, well i know, she has wayyyy more hair than emmi.
That is so precious! Big sisters and brothers sure love the little ones and the little ones sure love the big ones. We need to have another playdate soon. Take care
Isn't it interesting to see how quickly they pick up on their roles in the family. What a blessing to have two sweet babies that love each other. Sisters are the best!
I am so glad that Ava has adjusted so well, I know that you were a bit worried! I cannot believe how old she is already!
what a sweet big sister! they are just adorable!
love that last pic.
Those two middle pictures are precious. It looks like Ava is a natural big sister. So fun. Emaline is already growing so quickly. We'll have to get together soon so we don't miss out on her entire babyhood.
