politics schmolitics

i voted today...

today has been a long awaited day for me. but not just because i'm anxious to see who will win the presidential election or what props will and won't pass.

you see, i am sick and i am tired of hearing about how terrible and horrible each of the candidates or propositions are. i'm sick of receiving political email forwards trash talking "each side". i don't want to receive one more email about bill cosby being a write-in candidate for president or obama being a terrorist, illegal immigrants ruining our lives, and propositions being hate crimes. i don't want to see one more political advertisement on tv. i don't want to answer the phone to a recorded message paid for by the blah-blah-blah.

now before someone gets all wound up thinking i don't care about politics or my country or my future... hold on.

you see, i am into politics, i do want the best for my future, my children's future and my country. i just don't base my opinions on email forwards or slandering campaign ads. if you have something to say about why you think i should vote a certain way, then tell me why i should vote this way or that way. i don't want to hear about what a horrible mom palin is for running for v.p. or how obama's second cousin's friend's girlfriend's brother is a terrorist, making him a terrorist himself. don't tell me to stand up against prop 102 by taping flyers in the bathroom of the place that i choose to worship or that prop 102 is a hate crime by spray painting hate crime onto a sign... now that's just retarded. none of those things are going to sway me one way or another.

i am not a party voter, i vote for what i believe in, what i stand for, for the candidate that i feel will best lead our country for it is my vote that is cast. a vote that i have thought through, researched and decided on all on my own. i can respect you and your opinion, while still voicing mine.

so today, i celebrate, the temporary end to the political email forwards, slandering ads, and hypocritical arguments. go vote and put an "end" to the discussion already.

You should take your "I voted" sticker straight to Krispi Kreme. You get a free star shaped doughnut with patriotic sprinkles... because now that's American, right? I wish I had a sticker... we voted by mail.

Yeah! (as i pretend my last blog post wasn't a huge political rant)

p.s. - this word verification thing says "silarash".. that doesn't sound fun.

i totally agree with everything you just said. I wish more people felt the way you did. People get way to caught up in all the trash talk. Research yourself, and go with what you feel is best.

p.s. i am so glad the election is over, and am also so sick of email forwards, commercials etc.

oh Diana, I should have warned you... if you put the phrase "Prop 102" or really anything political in your blog, you apparently come up on search engines and then get delightful posts from people you don't know. killer, huh?
