lemons

when i was pregnant with emaline, my niece raegan came up to me and told me that she was so excited for me to have my baby.  "me too!", i replied.  "you're going to name her lemon-lime, right?" she asked.  little did we know that her cute comment would result in a nickname for our little emaline.  or as we endearingly refer to her as, our little lemons.

it's been a while since i dedicated a post entirely to her, and since she just passed the ten month mark, i figured now would be as good a time as any.   i don't want to forget this time with her.  i know that each of my children will bring different traits to the table, different ingredients to spice up our family.  ava is obedient, dramatic, and has a great sense of humor.  and while i know that i will learn more and more of my children's strong traits as they grow older, emaline's strongest trait is clearly evident at such a young age.  i can't help but think that she was sent to me and our family to simply bring us joy and happiness.  in one word, i describe her to everyone as, happy.  and it's hard not to smile and feel happy with her around... it's infectious.

she is a busy little girl.  and seems so content doing her own little thing.  exploring, learning, discovering.  i can leave her alone, with a simple object, toy or book and she will spend so much time by herself playing with it.

and when she gets bored, she'll find something new to play with on her own or crawl over to where we are and with her big eyes and sometimes a "mama" communicate to us that she wants to be held or needs a little company.

she loves to be held, and is even willing to be held by people she might not know as well.  she's so flexible and is so forgiving when our schedule doesn't match up very well with her schedule.  even with a few skipped or interrupted naps, she's still happy as a clam.

she's curious and grabby and gets into eve.ry.thing.  she'll squirm her way into wherever she wants to go, to get whatever she wants to get.  i feel bad taking items away from her that she's worked so hard to attain, but she's quick to forgive me once she finds something else that interests her.

my girls teach me lessons daily and give me inspiration to want to be a better mom, or a better person all around.  emaline, teaches me to find the good in my every days, to be content, but still reach for those bigger and greater things.  to be happy with what i have.  to be able to make lemonade, when life happens to give me lemons.

OK. You made me, a pregnant woman, run teary eyed into the other room and snatch up my daughter and kiss her so hard. She probably thinks I am psycho now. Seriously though, very sweet post about your little one. So cute.
