new year

be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.
~benjamin franklin~

this year was the first time as far as i can remember that i didn't stay up until midnight to ring in the new year. well, i guess technically we did in arizona time, but we weren't in arizona... we were in california. after a six hour drive with the girls and a long day ahead of us, we called it a night, an hour before california's midnight celebrations. and because of that, both bryce and i keep forgetting that it's a new year. oh-nine came and went and twenty-ten snuck right in behind our backs.
resolutions are cliche, but still, i can't help but feel a sense of renewal and a time for a fresh start and so in my mind i make my own goals for myself and aim to do better in areas of my life that need improving-- improving, not perfecting. all the while, enjoying each moment more fully.

twenty-ten, we can do this.

i really like that quote. good job, ben.

i can't wait to hear what goal kays has for me. until then, i'm totally devoid of responsibility and expectations.
