bryce and i are floored that emaline is already a month old! i still can't believe how quickly the time has passed! above is a copy of the birth announcements that we sent out, and since it costs nearly 50 cents to mail a letter these days, i decided to just post the announcement here for my friends who frequent my blog.
emaline is a terrific baby. i really mean this. when i had ava, people would ask me if she was a good baby and since she was my first and only, i would respond with, "she's the best baby i've ever had". not to say that ava was a terrible baby, but she was more difficult... and much louder. it's her unique personality that she was born with, and we love her for it. but emaline, is so complacent, a good sleeper and a good eater. i hesitate to write this about her for fear that i'll jinx myself for having such a great baby, but i'm so proud of her that i would hate to forget these moments. i'd love to pat myself on the back, but honestly, it's all her. i take care of her basic needs and she is happy. the past few nights she has woken once in the middle of the night to eat. she'll sleep from 9pm-3am, eat, then right back to bed until 7:30 or 8! normally, i would probably worry that she's going too long between meals, but she eats great during the day and seems to be gaining weight wonderfully... her cheeks and belly are filling out and i'm starting to see little fat rolls on her thighs. the other day i stepped on the scale with her to see how much she weighs and she was just over 11 pounds already.
when she is awake, she is very alert and attentive. she actually enjoys tummy-time and has even dozed off a few times during it. the first response i always get when people see her is, "wow, look at all that hair!" and if she's awake, the second response is always, "she's so attentive!" she'll look at you straight in the eyes as if she knows exactly what is happening around her. this is something i remember of ava, too, looking very aware of everything around her. we are so blessed to have such a sweet and wonderful baby in our hands. i'm amazed at how quickly time flies and how quickly these little ones grow to be not so little anymore. i'm trying to enjoy her as much as i can before time steals my tiny newborn away.

she is a super cutie. i'm impressed that you got on the scale after only a month. brave, brave lady.
She is just adorable- and yes, I think my first comment was "look at all that hair!"
I noticed you said "Awake and Very Alert"- should that be the name of A&A's reunion show? haha
I love how her announcement turned out! So cute! I also love that you're documenting everything. It's crazy how fast they move on to the next stage, and how fast we forget all the cute little things that they do.
Happy (one month) Birthday, sweet little Emaline!
She is very much like you were such a good little baby I worrid about you too because you hardly ever cried. She might be able by 3or 4 months old to say hi like you did.
YOur baby is so beautiful. The annoucement is so cute! I am impressed....I didn't even pretend to send any out when I have Evelynne!
I love that second pic, where she is looking straight at the camera. She is already getting so big.
you give me hope that I may be able to handle a second child! since Petra was an attention baby, maybe I will get a happy, content one, like ADORABLE emaline!
what are the chances I could get a guarantee on that? maybe in writing?
