for christmas, bryce's brother and my sister-in-law, bought us tickets to the no knife/jimmy eat world show. we were both looking forward to this show for two reasons... 1) no knife was one of bryce's favorite bands in high school and 2) jimmy eat world would be playing mainly songs from their clarity album... an album that came out ten years ago, before they were really big.
i've never seen no knife play live, and after being in retirement for 6 years, they still managed to rock my socks. while hearing them play hit man dreams, for one minute, i felt young and in high school again, until i heard the teenage girls behind me say something about how old everyone was that was there... at least i was in good company, since the set-up of the show was obviously aimed for those "old" fans.
it's always comforting to see jim adkins with his exact same haircut-- a reassuring constant that you can always count on. and i was beyond stoked when i realized that jimmy would not only play some clarity songs, but that they would, in fact, play every single song on that album in order. from "table for glasses" to an awesome vocal looped and layered "goodbye sky harbor". and while i could've done with out them playing "the middle" during the encore, hearing "what i would say to you now" and "no sensitivity" live were definitely highlights of the night. and it was actually awesome to hear the entire crowd sing lyrics to songs that made me become a fan of jimmy over 10 years ago.

that haircut is one of the only constants in my life right now.
the funny thing is, is that he used to get his hair cut at the salon i used to work at and every time he'd come in, i would think to myself... okay, this is it. but without fail, every single time, he'd leave, looking the exact same way as he came in.
he never let me down.
the haircut and the brows. steady eddie, that guy.
Oooo, Jimmy ate World! Did thay sang Hit Me Baby One More Time? lol. No me just playin'. lol.
i'm jealous.
clarity is brilliant.
jim's hair always makes me laugh inside.
the hair. i freaking love that hair cut.
and what could be better than pre-famous jimmy eat world? i used to check those dudes at the nile when i was 16 and only 23 people were at every show. ahhhhhh...good times.
So you don't know me, but I found you through Tip Junkie about your Super Saturday projects from like 2007 (I left a comment back there on that post too - I need help with my Super Saturday!) But I'm pretty sure we'd be long lost best friends. I LOVE Jimmy Eat World - always have - and I'm dying to go to their Clarity concert in Chicago, but I'd have to find someone to watch my baby, Jude - which leads me to your post about Across the Universe and being a huge Beatles fan. See, Best friends.
