fantastic finds

i've been on the hunt (garage sales) the past few weeks for three things:

a computer armoire

a dresser with potential

and a nightstand.

(kayleen, i haven't forgotten about the kiddie table, sarah, the coupe car, and amanda, another dresser. i'm still hunting! anyone have any other requests?)

i was pretty stoked a few weekends ago when i nabbed both of these gems for a mere $90. aren't they fantastic?

i'm painting the dresser for ava's room since all of her furniture will be moved to baby's new room. i absolutely love this piece. it's really large and solid and would even look nice in a hall for extra storage someday. i'll post some "after" pictures of it once i paint it.

the computer armoire turned out to be a better deal than i had realized. when i got it home and really looked it over, i found that there was not one scratch on it and it was solid wood, not pressed wood! i wasn't really fond of the wood color but i already knew i would paint it, but now i'm going to hold off for a bit. i feel guilty painting a perfectly good piece of furniture, which is why i shop garage sales and besides i'm not positive on what i want to do with it as far as painting goes so i'm going to give myself sometime to think it over.

now, all i need is that nightstand and ava's room will be on its way to completition! well, kinda.

Those are some awesome finds!! How did you score those prices? How exciting, I can't wait for the after pictures, is baby going in the room Ava is in now? Post lots of pictures, I love this stuff! And you have amazing eyes that is Where the Wild Things Are.

Don't you be painting that stuff while you are Pregant. If I catch
you painting you will be sorry. Its not good for baby.

sure you found stuff for you. so selfish.

i don't want you to come home tomorrow morning without my kiddie picnic table.

b.t.w. that's a really cute dresser. i like it.

man oh man. i wish i had the know-how to do the garage sale/thrift store circuit. i get a little overwhelmed in those situations. sweaty palms, the shakes, rapid heart beat...all those low prices really get to me.

that's also why i can't go to wal-mart...

Diana you have just saved me a little stress... I had been searching for the correct term trying to describe to Breck what I wanted in our den. I described, "a desk with doors that looks good and hides all the junk" I got blank stares of course. Anyway I tried to google for a picture but couldn't think of the term... ding, ding "computer armoire"!! Anyway such good finds!

Wow Diana those are really amazing finds! I'm oozing with jealousy :) I will have to join you when you go sometime because whenever I have tried to go I find absolutely nothing!

I know Diana...you always find the good stuff! Of course, I know that you have to really hunt to find what you're looking for...and I know that takes a really patient person.
The computer armoire is even better in person...I'm so excited for you!

linds- ava is staying in her room but getting all 'new' furniture. i'll be sure to post some pics of her room when i've finished it... which probably won't be done until after baby comes.

sar- i'm keeping my eyes peeled.

mom- don't worry, i'm enlisting bryce to do the painting since we actually have 4 pieces of furniture to paint! and no, you can't have the dresser.

kay- just 'cause you called me selfish i'm no longer looking for a table for you. i hold grudges.

jaime- i get the shakes, sweaty palms and a rapid heartbeat, too, but in an excited way, when i find bargains.

nan- glad i could help out... it took me forever to finally find one at a sale in decent condition. i'm so excited to be able to hide all my computer junk behind those doors.

celeste- you're welcome to join me anytime, but it's definitely hit or miss when i go.

nicole- i'm either patient or cheap, i haven't figured it out yet.

diana.. i'm about 75% sure that we have a little white nightstand that we kept in storage because we don't have room for a nightstand on both sides of our stupidly big bed. i can't see us ever dying to use it again.

you have got some mad garage sailing skills, which I've always known and been very jealous of. I may have to enlist your skills one of these days

your moms comment cracks me up. i remember being prego w/ #1 and told eric he HAD to do all the painting b/c it would hurt our unborn baby. By #4 i turned on some fans and went for it.
